NAGPUR: Yashodhara Nagar police arrested three more accused in a gang rape case after they had netted an accused on October 18. Victim, whose husband was in police custody in connection with a case related to property offences, was allegedly gang raped at her Garib Nawaz nagar slum residence in the wee hours of October 17. After arresting Anup Bhiwgade (33), a resident of Lakadganj, Yashodhara Nagar police also arrested the remaining three in the case.
Vinod Panchaang and Kaju alias Wasim Nanhe Khan (20), were arrested from different places. Panchaang, who was referred to as a 'langdya' or a physically challenged by the complainant in her statement, was picked up from Kurkheda in Amravati on October 21. Kaju alias Wasim Khan (20), was arrested from a hide-out at Ahmedabad by a team of Yashodhara nagar police. Deputy commissioner of police, Zone III Madhukar Pandey claimed that the city police, probably for the first time, booked a relative of the gang rape accused for providing him shelter. It was learnt that Dumper alias Kalimuddin Siddiqui (33), surrendered before the police after his relative Sheebu was booked under section 212 of Indian Penal code for harbouring criminal. Dumper was sheltering at Allahabad before returning to the city.
