Chandrapur: A gynaecologist Dr Prajakta Aswar has etched her name in Indian endurance sports history by becoming the first Indian woman to successfully complete Ultraman Australia, one of the world's most punishing ultra-endurance competitions, held from May 9 to 11.The brutal three-day race tests extraordinary physical and mental resilience, featuring a 10-km swim, 421-km cycling challenge, and an 84.3-km double marathon run, covering a staggering 515.4 km. Competing against 39 elite athletes from around the world, Dr Aswar was the only woman competitor among eight Indian participants.While several Indian male triathletes, including Milind Soman, Dr Kaustubh Radkar, Shubham Kajale, Ingit Anand, Sidharth Yadav, and IRS officer Jomy Jacob, have previously completed the Australian edition, Dr Aswar has now become the first Indian female athlete to achieve the feat.Her achievement is a testament to her discipline, relentless hard work, determination, and deep passion for the sport.
