Amravati: Dharni police seized over 5kg ganja, valued at Rs99,000, and arrested one person during a raid at Dubai Mohalla on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off, a team led by police inspector Avatarsing Chavan searched residence of Khalil Ansari and recovered a box containing holding five packets. The packets contained dried leaves, flowers, seeds, and stems with a strong odour. The material was later confirmed as ganja.
The seizure was part of an intensified drive ordered by superintendent of police Niketan Kadam against illegal businesses and
drug trafficking.
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at Dharni police station. Police sub-inspector Satish Jhalte is conducting the investigation.
Revenue officials were also present to ensure procedural compliance during the raid.
