Nagpur: A 57-year-old shop owner from Reshimbagh Layout in Sakkardara was duped of ₹19.2 lakh by cybercrooks. The accused lured the shop owner by promising high returns on share market investment.
The complainant, who owned a footwear business, was allegedly tricked through online cheating, impersonation, forgery of electronic records and dishonest inducement. Cyber station police have registered a case under BNS sections for fraud along with Information Technology Act Sections 66(3) and 68(a).
The main accused, Vitthalrao, and others are yet to be arrested. The victim noticed the fraud after bank alerts and lodged the complaint. Cyber cell officials are tracing digital transactions and calls.
