Character building Sangh’s core work:Bhagwat at ‘Priya Yashwantrao’ event

Nagpur: Asserting that the essence of RSS's organisational work lies in shaping individuals, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday said that "manushya nirman" (character building) remains the primary task of every swayamsevak, irrespective of the platform they work on. "Regardless of which organisation a Sangh swayamsevak works with, his primary task, rooted in affinity and friendship, is to shape people into better human beings — manushya nirman (character building)," Bhagwat said, underlining that the long-term strength of any movement depends on the quality of individuals it produces.He was speaking at ‘Priya Yashwantrao', a recitation programme organised by the Vidarbha unit of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) at Kavivarya Suresh Bhat Auditorium, Reshimbagh, to mark the birth centenary of Prof Yashwantrao Kelkar, regarded as the ABVP's architect.Drawing a parallel to emphasise balance in life, Bhagwat said, "A bird flies using both its wings. Similarly, to attain the ultimate state, both gyan (knowledge) and karma (action) are essential." He added that patience and perseverance are integral to achieving goals. "All endeavours take time. Sankalp-siddhi (fulfilment of resolve) happens at the right moment. The Sangh has witnessed this over the past 100 years," he said.Speaking about Kelkar's contribution, Bhagwat noted his work was rooted in eternal principles. "Recognising fundamental truths and living by them is our methodology. On this foundation, Yashwantrao Kelkar worked to build and expand the organisation," he said.Framing the programme as an intellectual and moral awakening, Bhagwat said words shared during the event were meant to take root in mind and bring about change in life. He underlined Kelkar's ideas and methods are timeless. "His thoughts and approach are eternal. As long as humanity exists, these principles will remain relevant," he said, adding truth ultimately prevails — it may fluctuate, but it endures.Touching upon the current context, Bhagwat said the organisation is passing through a favourable phase and it must be used to expand its work. "Facilities are meant for us, but we must not become slaves to them," he said, cautioning karyakartas against complacency during periods of growth.ABVP natl organising secretary Ashish Chauhan said the Marathi programme ‘Priya Yashwantrao', based on Kelkar's life, will also be presented in Hindi, titled ‘Priya Kelkar' in future.
