Ashirwad is Nagpur collector, Pant gets Chandrapur top job

Nagpur: Kumar Ashirwad, a 2016 batch officer, has been appointed as the new Nagpur district collector as part of a statewide reshuffle of IAS officers. Currently serving as Solapur collector, Ashirwad is likely to assume charge in Nagpur on Saturday.An IIT Kharagpur graduate in civil engineering, Ashirwad, born on March 10, 1988, has previously served as assistant collector and assistant secretary, and has also had a stint in Gadchiroli. Speaking to TOI, Ashirwad acknowledged the administrative significance of Nagpur and demands careful coordination and governance. He indicated that his initial focus will be on understanding local issues, as well as reviewing ongoing and pending development projects. "The first two to three months will involve extensive interactions and knowledge gathering," he said.With Ashirwad's appointment, Vipin Itankar, who was holding additional charge as Nagpur collector, will now handle his primary role as NMC commissioner and additional charge as MADC, MIL chief.The reshuffle also saw several key postings across the state. Satyam Gandhi has been appointed as Amravati Zilla Parishad CEO, while Varsha Ladda will take over as Amravati Municipal Corporation commissioner as incumbent Soumya Sharma proceeds on maternity leave. Deelip Swami has been posted as managing director of Maharashtra State Seeds Corporation in Akola.In other changes, Vasumana Pant has been appointed as Chandrapur collector, and Ankit will serve as additional commissioner at NMC. Mangesh Gondavale has been posted as Gondia collector, while Pravinkumar Devre will take charge as Buldhana collector. Additionally, Dipak Singla has been appointed as commissioner of MGNREGS, Nagpur.The reshuffle is aimed at strengthening administrative efficiency and ensuring smoother implementation of development programmes across districts, with several officers taking charge of crucial field and departmental assignments.
