Artistes dazzle, bring alive melodies of Mohd Rafi

NAGPUR: Excellent song selection and beautiful presentation were the highlights of the music programme titled “Diamonds Forever: Melodies of Mohammad Rafi’, staged at Dr Vasantrao

Hall, on Sunday.



Organized by Shri Siddhivinayak Publicity, the musical evening started with a beautiful song ‘Akele hai chale aao’, sung by Sarang Joshi. ‘Sare shehar mein aap sa koi nahi’, sung by Sagar Madhumatke and Shivani Joshi, won the hearts of the audience. ‘Ye chand sa roshan chehra’ by Sarang and ‘Kya mausam hai’ saw the trio of Sarang, Vijay Chivande and Sonali Dixit make the audience go gaga.

‘Madhuban mein Radhika’ presented by Chivande and ‘Aaj mausam hain bada’ by Sanjay Potdukhe reminded the audience of how Mohammad Rafi expressed emotions in a simple way. Some mesmerizing duets like ‘Ye ladka hai allah’ by Shivani and Sarang, and ‘Parda hai parda’, one of the most celebrated songs of those days, were sung together by Madhumatke, Joshi, Chivande and Potdukhe.

Accompanying artistes Raja Rathod (keyboard), Prakash Chauhan (guitar), Nandu Gohane (octopad), Prashanth Nagmote (tabla) and Ashok Tokalwar (dholak) gave matching performances.

The event, conceptualized by Samir Pandit, was conducted by Manoj Salpekar.
