AMRAVATI: The data of census 2011 has thrown up some positive findings for Amravati district. There is remarkable boost in the literacy rate of the district. Amravati is at the eighth position on the literacy front. Male literacy is fourth in the state while the sex ratio too has improved a bit.
With an overall literacy rate of 88.23%, Amravati district has witnessed a remarkable increase in both male and female literacy ratio.

Literacy rate amon males has gone up from 88% in 2001 to 92.70% in 2011 while the female literacy rate has increased from 73% in 2001 to 83.52% now. The sex ratio, number of females per 1,000 males, has gone up from 936 to 947.
The population of the district has increased from 26,60,160 to 28,27,200, registering a growth of 10.77%. There are 14,82,482 males and 14,06,048. The population density has increased from 214 in 2001 to 237 this time.
