station in the last few days. Criminals from different sensitive areas were picked up for externment, sources said. Six, out of eight externed, have been identified as Nikhil Hole, Dinesh Ingole, Ashish Dongre, Chandradeep Manerao, Vinay Chawariya and Sheikh Mukhtar. The

goons have serious offences registered against them. Except Hole, who has been externed for two years from Nagpur city and rural district, all the other seven have been externed for a year. DCP Balkawade said criminals were being flushed out of sensitive city areas which have high number of offences. “Following orders issued by city police top brass, lists of criminals have been prepared as per the gravity of offences for further action. Categorizing the action as a preventive measure, stringent laws like MCOCA, MPDA and externment can be evoked against them,” Balkawade said. Balkawade said that more than half a dozen externments are likely in near future. “We are focusing on reducing offences involving physical assault,” he added.
