NAGPUR: A 2-year-old boy lost his life after he slipped from the second floor balcony of his house at Nandanvan while trying to watch his elder brother playing on the ground floor.
Nitin Verma, the victim, had suffered injuries on February 26 and succumbed to his injuries during treatment on Monday evening.
The deceased was the youngest son of the parents, Luvkush Verma and Savita.
The couple has two sons and a daughter. Verma is a labourer while Savita is a homemaker.
Verma told that Savita was busy with her domestic chores while his elder daughter and elder son had gone to school while one, Bipin had left home to play. The toddler had gone to the balcony to see his brother playing downstairs. In his attempt to look down, he first got hanged to the grill and got slipped.
Nitin had suffered head injury and was rushed by neighbours to a private hospital. The child was referred to another private hospital at Dhantoli from where he was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). After a few hours of treatment at Intensive Care Unit, the boy succumbed to his injuries on Monday evening.
After the postmortem examination, Nandanvan police registered a case of an accidental death.
