Two arrested for extorting money by creating fake accident scenes

MYSURU: City police have uncovered a unique crime of extorting money from car owners after creating fake accident scenes by arresting two youths of Mandi Mohalla.

Zameer Khan (25) and Mohammed Jameer (35) were creating scene of accident in front of a four-wheelers after hitting their bike against cars slowing down, stopped, parked or taking a turn near curves and then taking to quarrel with drivers. Later they were reaching a settlement with driver and then decamp with cash or valuables without registering a case.

. A four-wheeler user Vishwanth Pradhan was targeted after hitting their bike from behind. Public gathered at the spot and tried to mediate between them. But one of the earlier victim Vishwanth identified the duo and caught one of them and alerted public about their modus operandi. Both were handed over to

police after beating them black and blue.

Inspector Vijaykumar confirmed TOI that preliminary investigation has revealed that duo have cheated nearly eight people in the last two months similarly and extracted them of their money and valuables. Their antecedents are being checked and probe is underway.
