Tension in Napoklu after man attacked

Madikeri: Tension prevailed at Napoklu village, as a man was attacked by a person from another community, in front of a supermarket in Napoklu on Friday evening.The incident occurred ahead of a Hindu convention scheduled to be held on Saturday at Ballamavati near Napoklu. The victim, Appachira Gautham of Doddapulicot, sustained injuries and was admitted to the district hospital.Right-wing organisations staged a road blockade in Napoklu for more than an hour, demanding action against the assailant. Additional police personnel were deployed, and Virajpet sub-division DSP Mahesh Kumar met the protesters. The jurisdictional police later registered an FIR.SP Bindu Mani said the accused has been arrested and the situation brought under control. Police are investigating the motive behind the attack.
