MYSORE:
Valentine's Day is incomplete without the exchange of gifts as a token of love. But finding that perfect gift is a Herculean task.
With the advent of technology, there are many mediums to convey your love. There is SMS, MMS, e-mail, smart phone apps and numerous other ways. But the age-old tradition of exchanging greeting cards has not lost its charm still.
Veeraraja Urs of Archie Gift Centre confirms that people still prefer cards to other gifts and this year too, the sale of cards is more than that of gifts. A variety of greeting cards in all shapes and sizes and priced from Rs 5 to more than Rs 1,000 is available at gift centres across the city.
Heart-shaped love cards, cards in the form of a book with blank spaces to write about your special moments and several other innovative cards are attracting couples.
IT professional Ranjini K says: "It has been 13 years of our marriage and we still exchange cards every year. Messages on cards convey your feelings beautifully and that is why I fancy that as a gift."
"This year people are not interested in buying expensive gifts. They want unique gift items," says Dennis, owner of a gift centre in Saraswathipuram.
Other unique gifts include coffee mug with a voice recorder - a message can recorded which will play every time the person drinks out of it, small bottles with tiny paper roll to write messages, coffee mug with a magic pen - the messages you write on the mug is visible only when light rays from the pen fall on the mug.
So, go ahead and impress your partner with the best this Valentine's day.
