MYSURU: Three engineers, all in their twenties, have set up a food portal in Mysuru city with a simple objective - to deliver food to customers from their favourite hotel. Their 500-plus customers include employees from Infosys, Quinix Technologies and Larsen & Toubro, as well other companies and banks.
Rakshith Nelamane, an MTech in environmental engineering, Deepak NM, an electrical engineer, and Deepak Gowda N, an MTech in electronics, started www.eaterschoice.in in February with an investment of Rs 4 lakh.
Customers can make their choice from their favourite restaurants and the food will be delivered to their doorstep.
Rakshith Nelamane, the CEO, was earlier with a consultancy company in Bengaluru while Deepak was a senior system engineer with Infosys and Deepak Gowda was with MindTree.
Deepak said Eater's Choice is the first of its kind in Mysuru. "Initially, we were anxious about how people in Mysuru would respond to it. Now, foodies are placing orders through the site," he said.
Rakshith said their objective was to give the traditional food of Mysuru a boost by providing more information about it. "We wanted people to taste the best food from hotels and restaurants like Hanumanthu, famous for pulav, Mylari for dosa, RRR for non-vegetarian food, Bombay Tiffanys and Mahesh Prasad. These and more are listed on our website along with their menus. People can also order food from 100 eateries — from small hotels to star hotels — and can choose from 5,000 items," he said.
They have hired three men to deliver the food. During weekends, the number of orders goes up. "When there are more orders, we ourselves deliver the food to customers," Deepak said. They charge Rs 30 per order.
There's another food delivery firm here. R Arun, owner of V Serve, said they take orders from customers on telephone. "When we take orders on the telephone, there's more interaction with customers and fewer complaints. It's difficult to take orders online, as we have to constantly interact with customers and answer their queries. If we fail to answer to their satisfaction, they're disappointed and that's why we have stayed with taking orders on the telephone," he said.
