Mandya police sports meet to focus on health, well-being

Mandya: Deputy commissioner Kumara on Monday emphasised the importance of maintaining health and mental well-being whilst managing occupational stress during the inauguration of the two-day Mandya District Police Annual Sports Meet 2024 at the District Police Parade Ground.He highlighted the significance of physical and mental fitness, particularly for young people, in contributing to national development. Kumara commended the police force for their unwavering commitment to public safety, working tirelessly in challenging conditions regardless of time or weather."When people think of the police department, they associate it with discipline, sacrifice, and selfless service to society, which commands immense respect and admiration," said Kumara.He recognised the challenges of demanding work schedules and encouraged officers to maximise family time during breaks. He advocated for daily physical activity, suggesting an hour of yoga or sports, alongside proper nutrition for overall wellness.ZP chief executive officer Sheikh Tanveer Asif discussed the importance of maintaining age-appropriate weight to prevent health complications. He stressed the need to balance work commitments with personal time and family relationships. In this digital age, Asif emphasised parent-child bonding to reduce children's technology dependence and strengthen family ties.The two-day event will feature six teams each in men's and women's categories. The top three winners from each event will advance to compete in the upcoming state-level meet.Superintendent of police Mallikarjun Baladandi, along with additional SPs CE Thimmaiah and Gangadhar Swamy, attended the event.
