Hassan: Come this weekend, children in Hassan will have an opportunity to enjoy a variety of stage performances, including storytelling and children's theatre.Hassan-based Vijaya School is presenting the first-ever Hassan Literature Festival -- exclusively for children. The festival will begin on Feb 28 and conclude on March 1 at the school campus in Chikkahonnenahalli.
The event aims to nurture a strong reading culture among children, introduce literature in an engaging and meaningful manner, and create awareness on the importance of developing reading habits from an early age. The festival provides children and families with a unique opportunity to meet and interact with children's authors. The event will feature interactive storytelling sessions, creative writing workshops, and engaging conversations designed especially for students. From preschool to high school, students will bring to life stories and plays inspired by Shakespeare, Tenali Ramakrishna, and other popular writers. A special installation titled ‘Bandaya Wall' is inspired by the Booker Prize-winning work ‘Heart Lamp', by Banu Mushtaq. The event aims to promote the spirit of critical thinking among young minds. The festival also includes reading-integrated games such as ‘Know the Genre', a literary treasure hunt, bookmark-making sessions, and collective writing activities. A quiet reading space called ‘Vidya Vatika' will provide space for silent browsing. A book donation drive is also being organised in collaboration with the Rotary Interact Club.
