Mysuru: A group of bloggers from various parts of the country visited the historic Somanathpura Chennakeshava temple, a UNESCO heritage site located in T Narasipura taluk of Mysuru district, on Thursday.
The visit was part of the ‘Discover Mysuru' initiative, a collaborative effort by the Union ministry of tourism, state tourism department, and Karnataka Tourism Society (KTS) to promote tourism and tourist destinations in and around Mysuru through various social media platforms.
The initiative holds special significance as the state celebrates the naada habba dasara festivities from Oct 3 to 12, aiming to attract tourists from around the world.
The team of bloggers, accompanied by officials from the tourism department and members of the hotel industry, will also visit other tourist spots like Bandipur and places around Mysuru during their tour of the district, which will continue until Sept 14.
The bloggers expressed their appreciation for the architectural style of the Chennakeshava temple. Joint director of tourism MK Savitha welcomed the bloggers' team at Somanathapura.
The visit was attended by Farooq Ahammed, regional commissioner, Union ministry of tourism; Kedarnath, assistant director; Prabhuswamy, assistant director of tourism, Karnataka govt; Rudresh, chief executive officer, Karnataka Exhibition Authority; MD Sudarshan, assistant director of Kannada and culture; M Narayanagowda, president, Mysuru District Hotel Owners Association; Ashoka, president, Tourist Guides Association, and other officials.
