Women must empower themselves: Registrar

Chikkamagaluru: Educationalists have called upon women to empower themselves with a positive attitude and suggested developing an "I can do" attitude.
Registrar of RV University, Bengaluru, Sahana D Gowda, called on women not to wait for anyone to empower them. "Waiting for someone to empower you is just a waste of time," she said while speaking during the 19th anniversary of the District Vokkaliga Mahila Sangha here on Tuesday.
"Self-individual growth is important, and we know our strengths and weaknesses better than anyone else. Make empowerment your own by creating opportunities and adopting new things," she said.
In many cases, women suppress themselves, thinking they can't adopt new things. Gowda suggested giving it a try rather than ignoring it. "If you fail, you lose nothing, and it would be a lesson for you," she said and suggested self-evaluation.
"Know your strengths, weaknesses, and available opportunities. Encashing strengths and converting weaknesses into strengths through experiences is what empowerment and transformation are," according to her.
Every mother and housewife should be empowered with a positive attitude. According to her, every mother has been contributing to the healthy development of a child, and that in itself is the biggest empowerment. She also advised considering and respecting others' perspectives to lead a dignified life.
Sahana suggested creating opportunities in the locality to maintain culture, tradition, and hospitality. According to her, urbanisation is not standardising society but educating people for the betterment of society.
Sangha president Kalpana Pradeep, secretary Amitha Vijayendra, District Vokkaliga Sangha president Rajashekar and vice president Lakshman Gowda were present.
