Blooper: Sringeri boy scored 72 in English; SSLC marks card showed 28
Chikkamagaluru: An SSLC student suffered due to a marks entry lapse by the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB), after authorities recorded wrong marks on his marks card.Ramadatta Sharma, a student of a govt high school in Sringeri, had secured 72 marks in English in the SSLC examination. However, the marks sheet showed only 28 marks. The error came to light after Ramadatta applied for and reviewed the scanned copy of his English answer script. Teachers became suspicious on seeing the low score and visited his house to console him, as both the student and his family were distressed after the results were declared.Following the teachers' guidance, Ramadatta sought a scanned copy of the answer sheet, which confirmed that he had actually scored 72 marks. A teacher said the mistake occurred while entering the marks into the computer, leading to the loss of 44 marks.Ramadatta has since expressed relief after verifying his actual score in the scanned copy.Shanthappa, a retired teacher, said lapses by officials could ruin a student's life. Authorities must exercise utmost care and not play with students' futures, he said.
