MYSURU: A Gateway of India, made of nearly two lakh roses, will be the centre of attraction at the Dasara-2016 flower show.
The horticulture department also plans a variety of other trendy floral models for the 12-day show, which will be held at the Nishad Bagh (Kuppanna Park).
GD Dinesh Kumar, senior assistant director of horticulture department told TOI that they plan to upgrade the show to new dimensions this year.
He added that about 10.36 acres of the park will be decorated using 65,000 flower pots. Artistic stone scriptures and vegetable carvings will be displayed at the exhibition, besides floral replicas of light combat aircraft 'Tejas' and war memorial 'Amar Jawan.'
"We will present professional models of vertical garden and bonsai, going by the current trend" he said. He said the flower show has something for everyone, from kids to elders.
Later, father of horticulture MH Marigowda's memorial statue will be set up at the venue, he said. "The primary works have started and flower beds have been prepared at the park. We are expecting a lot more tourists this year," Dinesh said.
