MUMBAI: A
witness
in the
Sheena Bora murder
case, Sandeep Patil, who had described accused
Indrani Mukerjea, her former husband
Sanjeev Khanna and accused-turned-approver Shyamv-ar Rai before the trial court on We-dnesday, five years after he had seen them for half a minute near the spot where the body was burnt, could not describe the
tehsildar
and
panch witnesses
present at the
identification parade
in 2015.
On Thursday, during cross- examination by Khanna’s defence advocate Niranjan Mundargi, Patil said, “I can’t state the age and height of the panchas and tehsildar.” He denied defence advocate Sudeep Pasbola’s suggestion that he was deposing falsely and that the previous investigating officer, Dinesh Kadam, and Khar police knew him and had taken his signature at Pen police station on September 9, 2015. During examination by special public prosecutor Kavita Patil on Wednesday, Patil said he was on his way from Shiravli to Pen to hire a tempo to transport gym equipment when he saw the trio. He admitted that he didn’t have the documents to show that he had hired the tempo or that he ran a gym. He also accepted that lawyers and cops were members at his gym.
