Want to drive a Tesla? Here’s what Mumbai’s Experience Centre has to offer (photos)

Tesla opened its first official showroom in India at Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex, marking a milestone in the country’s electric mobility space.

The Tesla Model Y was displayed at the new showroom, showcasing its sleek aesthetics, spacious interiors, and performance capabilities.

Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the Tesla Experience Centre and unveiled the Model Y, calling it a “statement of innovation.”

The BKC showroom was designed with a minimalist, white-themed aesthetic and completed in just 45 days under the leadership of architect Neeta Sharada.

Tesla introduced the basic Model Y with a 500 km range and a long-range variant offering 622 km per charge, starting deliveries from October 2025 and January 2026 respectively.

Visitors viewed Model Y’s advanced technology like a touchscreen interface, autopilot driver-assistance features, and over-the-air software updates, features that define Tesla’s global design approach.

Tesla revealed its fast-charging stations coming up in Mumbai, offering 267 km of range with just 15 minutes of charging at four planned locations.

CM reiterated Maharashtra’s support for Tesla and EV growth, citing the state’s strong EV policy and infrastructure plans.

Sources said Tesla hinted at plans to set up a manufacturing facility in India, with Maharashtra vying to host it through policy incentives.

While inauguration, CM Fadnavis said "Mumbai represents innovation and sustainability, values Tesla stands for. Recalling his first Tesla ride in the US back in 2015, he said it took 10 years for the EV giant to enter India, We are very happy that finally you are here. Mumbai and all of India will love Tesla."

Tesla officials confirmed plans to expand beyond Mumbai, with Delhi likely to host the next Tesla Experience Centre in India.
