Viral video: Auto driver intercepted with rigged meter in Mumbai

MUMBAI: The Mumbai Traffic Police intercepted an auto driver who had rigged his vehicle's meter and was overcharging commuters.

The Traffic Police have written to the RTO with details of the auto.



Authorities reported receiving complaints about an auto operating with a faulty meter near the Mumbai airport and cheating customers.

Police teams searched for the auto at Vile Parle Junction and located it. The driver, identified as Vijay Kumar Jaiswal, a resident of Kurla, admitted to tampering with the meter, causing it to run faster.

Mumbai Police released a video of the "ghoda meter" (tampered meter) on their X handle, along with tips on how to identify such meters.
