police have arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly cheating two friends of Rs 21 lakh by promising them help in getting
Mhada
flats in central Mumbai.
Deepak Chavan, senior inspector, said that Gajendra
Pawar
(33), a resident of Airoli, had lodged a complaint with the police stating that
Shankar Rane
had cheated him and one of his friends. “The complainant said the accused had promised to get him a Mhada flat in Elphinstone Road area in 2017.
The accused took Rs 12 lakh from Pawar and Rs 9 lakh from Pawar’s friend,” Chavan said. When Pawar did not get the flat, he asked
Rane
to return his money, but the latter refused.
