After taking the cards and using them to withdraw cash from ATMs, they would hand them back to the victims, saying the bank had rejected their plea.
The police arrested the trio on the complaint of Srinivas Thevar, a trader dealing in computer software, said senior inspector (Mahim) Joe Gaikwad. A search resulted in the recovery of five credit cards and other documents.
Thevar had gone to an ATM last month when the three accused approached him saying he should upgrade his credit limit.
