MUMBAI: A teacher who was part of a delegation that went to meet education minister Vinod Tawde ruffled the politician when she tried to video-record the group's conversation with him without permission. The incident happened on Tuesday at the minister's official bungalow. The teacher's phone was allegedly confiscated by the police.

MLC Kapil Patil, who was accompanying the teachers' group said the minister was rude to the delegation. "The teachers are demanding aid for salaries and had gone to speak to the minister. He was rude to them and hence, one of the teachers began recording the conversation. When she was caught, the teachers were taken to

police station. They returned her phone only after we intervened," he said.

Tawde told TOI: "During our conversation, a woman cop spotted the teacher recording a video. She was asked about it, but she denied having done it. When the police checked her phone, a recording was found. I was speaking to the teachers in good faith and recording the conversation without permission isn't right."

Patil said the action was extreme. "There was no need to involve cops. Tawde could have warned the teacher and asked to delete the video," he said.
