MUMBAI: A success story that spans over a decade, OLIO raises its curtains to students on August 10 this year for the eliminations. This preliminary round will help scan a multitude of talent from colleges all over Mumbai and select the four finalists who will perform on 7th September 2012.
OLIO is the only English theatre competition of its kind in the city and probably the country and literally means "skits with musical interludes and a backdrop".

"The audience will witness on the day of the finale will be not just talent in theatrics, but a host of young actors who hope to shine in the acting world. OLIO has consistently been a platform for young students to showcase their talent. Its aim is to also provide a podium where professionals from the industry can spot young talent and help nurture it," said a professor from the organising college. "Anand Tiwari, one of the most phenomenal actors in the theatre circuit today, who can play a transvestite in 'All about my mother' with the same ease as he plays a lamppost in 'One on One' is one alumni, whose life revolved around OLIO. Besides, Frieda Pinto took away the award for the "Best Actress" of OLIO 2004."
After much brainstorming, OLIO 2012, has zeroed in on 'Twisted Tales' as their theme, expecting contestants to twist an existing tale and embellish it to the hilt.
"There's no dearth of talent in the youngsters of Mumbai and like in the past, OLIO expects another bumper crop of theatric talent, that will tickle the sensibilities of the audience to the utmost," added the professor.
