Mumbai: Businessman Raj Kundra skipped his scheduled appearance at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday. He had been summoned to record his statement regarding the money laundering probe connected to adult content creation and distribution via mobile applications.
Kundra is expected to appear before the ED on Wednesday. The ED has also called actor Gehana Vasisth, to provide her statement on Dec 9. Reports indicate that Kundra's previous employees had uploaded explicit and obscene videos on the mobile application, allegedly filmed by Gehana Vasisth. The ED recently conducted raids at 19 locations, including Kundra and Vasisth, across Mumbai, Delhi NCR and Uttar Pradesh.
During these operations, the ED blocked several bank accounts and collected mobile phones for investigation.
The probe centres on allegations regarding the production of pornographic material and its dissemination through digital platforms. In 2021, Vasisth, Kundra and other suspects were arrested by the Mumbai police for producing and uploading adult content online, and are currently out on bail. Kundra has maintained his innocence, claiming no direct involvement in content production. In 2021, Mumbai police's crime branch discovered an alleged pornographic film production setup during a raid at a Madh Island bungalow. The probe subsequently led to Gehana Vasisth and Raj Kundra.
