MUMBAI: The government will compel private organisations to submit details of vacancies on the government’s web portal, said Maharashtra minister for skill development, Mangal Prabhat Lodha.

He was responding to supplementaries in the legislative council on Monday on rising unemployment in the state and the measures taken by the government to provide employment.

MLC Abhijit Vanjari said most private companies carried out recruitment through private agencies denying those unemployed and registered with the government an opportunity to find employment.

In reply to another question on welfare measures for construction workers, labour minister Suresh Khade said the government will seek land from various local bodies to build rest rooms for daily wage labourers who daily stand at nakas (road junctions) seeking work.

MLC Pravin Darekar said these rest rooms should be at key junctions and should be provided with telephone, first aid box etc.
