Swami Vivekananda began his voyage to the Parliament of World Religions in Chicago, where his speech on universal brotherhood uplifted the soul of capitalistic America.
President
Pranab Mukherjee arrived in Mumbai on Friday to lead an anniversary tribute to Vivekananda whose exploration of Vedanta and nationalism went hand in hand. Several dignitaries attended the ceremony hosted by Ramakrishna Mission, Mumbai, along with the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) at the Convocation Hall of Mumbai University.
Two books were also released—‘Swami Vivekananda in Mumbai and Maharashtra’ by Sudheendra Kulkarni and ‘A monk from Bombay: Swami Vivekananda’s historic voyage from Mumbai to Chicago’ by Radha Viswanathan and Kulkarni. L K Advani garlanded Swami’s statue at the Gateway of India.
