Nobel laureates to attend peace conference in city today
MUMBAI: Nobel laureates, global business leaders and cultural Icons are gathering for the 'Billionaires for Peace Conclave' at Hotel Grand Hyatt in Santacruz Thursday. The event is organised by the 'I am Peacekeeper Movement'.
The Nobel winners include Kailash Satyarthi (India, 2014), Houcine Abassi (Tunisia, 2015, as part of the National Dialogue Quartet), Grigorii Pelman (Russia, who co-founded the Memorial society, which won the 2022 prize) and Mohan Munasinghe (Sri Lanka, 2007, as part of the IPCC),
Another highlight is the presence of corporate leaders like Motilal Oswal, Vikram Shroff, Sagar Chordia, Savji Dholakia, Margarita Louis-Dreyfus, and Burjis Godrej.
Panel discussions, keynote addresses by Nobel Prize winners, inter-faith initiatives, and an awards ceremony are on the anvil.
Former President of India Ram Nath Kovind, Governor of Maharashtra Jishnu Dev Varma, politicians Ramdas Athawale and Raksha Khadse, celebrities Sonu Sood, Sonu Nigam, Salim Merchant, Boman Irani and Harbhajan Singh will also attend.
The organiser of the event and founder of the I am Peacekeeper Movement, Huzaifa Khorakiwala said, "We are grateful for such an encouraging response to the conclave from leaders in business, governance, philanthropy, entertainment, sports and spirituality. It is inspiring to see these influential voices come together with a shared commitment towards peace, dialogue and collective progress.
