MUMBAI: A 37-year-old woman, who had undergone a sex reassignment surgery, died by suicide on Sunday at her Goregaon home as she felt she was not getting acceptance from people.
Police said she was undergoing therapy with a mental health professional as she felt that people were not treating her like a woman. Police said she left behind a suicide note.
The woman, who was a media professional and an LGBTQ activist, lived with a male friend. On Sunday, when he returned home at 10.30am, he found her hanging from the ceiling fan with a dupatta. He took her to a private hospital where she was pronounced dead before admission.
