‘NCP first to demand reservation for women’

MUMBAI: The NCP spokesperson and former minister Madan Bafna on Thursday thanked the Maharashtra government for approving proposal for 50% reservation for women in zilla parishad and municipal bodies in
the state.
Addressing a press conference, Bafna claimed that it was the NCP which had first made the demand for 50% reservation for women in a workers’ rally held in Navi Mumbai, which was addressed by party president Sharad Pawar.

The Congress has also similarly claimed that it was first decided by the party at the central level and the state government was following suit.
