Boost to airport rail connectivity
Suburban rail services on the Belapur/Nerul–Uran corridor are being strengthened to improve connectivity to the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport, with additional trains and new stations becoming operational.
Five new train pairs added
From Monday, five additional pairs of suburban trains will be introduced on the Uran line, increasing the frequency of services for daily commuters in Navi Mumbai.
Daily services rise to 50
With the latest additions, the total number of daily train services on the Belapur/Nerul–Uran corridor will go up from 40 to 50, officials said.
Two new stations commissioned
The railway will commission two new stations—Targhar and Gavan—on the Uran line, expanding access for passengers in fast-developing residential and industrial areas.
Support for airport-bound commuters
The strengthened services are aimed at easing travel for passengers and workers headed to the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport and nearby business zones.
Improved suburban network
The move is expected to improve last-mile connectivity and reduce dependence on road transport along the Uran corridor.
Focus on Navi Mumbai growth
Railway officials said the expansion aligns with Navi Mumbai’s rapid urban growth and rising demand for suburban rail services.
Better peak-hour convenience
Additional train pairs will help reduce crowding during peak hours and improve travel comfort for regular commuters.
Integration with future infrastructure
The enhanced services are part of broader efforts to integrate suburban rail with major upcoming infrastructure projects, including the international airport.
Services begin Monday
The revised timetable with added train services and newly commissioned stations will come into effect from Monday, benefiting thousands of daily passengers.
