On his last day, Nair hosp dean suspends senior med officer

Mumbai: Dr Sudhir Medhekar, former dean of Nair Hospital, on Wednesday took charge as dean of BMC-run Cooper Hospital in Juhu. On his last day as dean of Nair Hospital, though, Dr Medhekar issued suspension orders for a senior medical officer. "I exercised my right as the competent authority to suspend this doctor, who is the nodal officer for the implementation of the state health insurance scheme in the hospital, because I found irregularities in the scheme's running.Moreover, the doctor has also not implemented many orders that I had given,'' said Dr Medhekar. Two other non-medical employees were transferred. It is learned that the employees are going to challenge this order. tnn
