Mumbai traffic police issues new parking restrictions in Sakinaka; what we know
MUMBAI: Traffic Police have announced vehicular restrictions in Sakinaka to address traffic congestion in the area.
“Local residents, shopkeepers and office employees park vehicles on both sides of Technology Street (from Olympia Building to Gopal Chandrabhan Circle), making it difficult for fire brigade vehicles, ambulances, emergency vehicles and essential services to move. This leads to traffic congestion, and it has become necessary to introduce an odd-even parking system on the road on a temporary basis,” a statement issued by the Traffic Police said.
Under the new arrangement, parking will be allowed on the left side of Technology Street (from Olympia Building to Gopal Chandrabhan Circle) on even dates of every month. On odd dates, parking will be allowed on the right side of the road.
Parking of all heavy vehicles has been prohibited.
The restrictions will remain in force from May 7 to August 6.
