Mumbai shocker: Man arrested for repeatedly molesting minor on Karjat-bound train
MUMBAI: A 35-year-old man was arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) for repeatedly molesting a minor on a Karjat-bound local train.
The girl slapped the accused, after which her parents and co-travellers handed him over to police at Dombivli station.
The incident occurred on 10 February. The 14-year-old victim had gone to south Mumbai with her parents and sibling to celebrate her father's birthday. Later that day, the family boarded a Karjat-bound fast local to return home, sitting in the general compartment.
Between 9.45 pm and 10.45 pm, the accused boarded the same compartment at Kurla station. He stood close to the girl and touched her inappropriately a couple of times. The girl stared at him angrily but did not immediately complain.
Just before the train reached Dombivli station, the family got up from their seats and moved towards the passage near the exit.
The accused stood behind the victim and touched her inappropriately again. This time, the girl slapped him and told her parents that she had been molested repeatedly since Kurla station. Her parents and co-travellers caught the accused and handed him over to the police at Dombivli station.
As the offence had started at Kurla, custody of the accused was transferred to Kurla GRP. He has been identified as Mohammad Ayub Ansari and has been booked under the POCSO Act and the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita.
