MUMBAI: A TV show contestant was arrested by city crime branch (unit IX) for kidnapping a 17-year-old girl, spiking her food and raping her at his house in Nalasopara.
Aditya Gupta (20) was arrested after the girl's parents lodged a missing person's complaint with D N Nagar police in
Andheri
on Sunday. The girl was found abandoned at McDonald's, Andheri.
The victim was sent to Bhabha hospital where it transpired that she was raped. She told police that she met Gupta on Instagram and they soon became friends.
Gupta called her to McDonald's on Sunday. "He took her to his Nalasopara home, where he spiked her food and raped her. Later, he brought her by train to Andheri and fled," said a police officer.
Police said the crime branch traced the accused with the help of call data records and CCTV footage. They handed over the accused to D N Nagar police, who have invoked sections of POCSO.
