Mumbai News Updates: City reports 570 new Covid-19 cases, 10 fatalities in last 24 hours

In a big development, Mumbai touched 1 lakh vaccinations on Monday. It's the highest since the drive started in January. Vaccination will start for all above 18 years of age in Maharashtra from Tuesday. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar will chair a meeting with opposition party leaders in Delhi on Tuesday, informed Maharashtra Minority Affairs Minister and NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik.The financial hub on Monday reported 521 new COVID-19 cases and 685 recoveries, taking its active case tally to 14,637, and the total case tally to 7,21,891. The cumulative recoveries have risen to 6,89,675, with the recovery rate at 95 per cent. Seven people succumbed to the virus, taking the city’s total toll to 15,305.

Cancer hospital approved for Thane
A cancer hospital with modern facilities will be constructed in Thane in collaboration with the Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH), Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) and a Trust, a release issued by district guardian minister Eknath Shinde's office said on Monday. The Maharashtra government has sanctioned the development of a modern cancer hospital in Thane district to provide high-quality care at affordable rates to residents of Thane and the surrounding areas, the release said.

Man held for illegal possession of firearm in Thane
Police have arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly carrying a rifle illegally for sale in Maharashtra's Thane district, an official said on Tuesday. Based on a tip-off, the police laid a trap near a hotel on the Mumbai-Nashik bypass here and nabbed the man on Monday, he said.A 12 bore rifle was seized from his possession, the official said, adding that a case was registered against him under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act. Mumbai: Here is today's list of vaccination centres for people between the age of 30 to 44 and 45 plus

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has informed that the vaccination on Tuesday will take place for people between the age group of 30 to 44 and 45 plus.Releasing the list of vaccination centers, BMC said that the first and second dose of Covishield will be administered to 45 plus people, however, the first dose will be given to 50 percent and the second dose to 50 percent of people.

21 cases of 'Delta plus' variant of COVID-19 found in Maharashtra: Minister
Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Monday said 21 cases of the 'Delta plus' variant of COVID-19, considered highly infectious, have been found in the state so far. Talking to reporters, Tope said the highest nine cases were reported in Ratnagiri followed by seven in Jalgaon, two in Mumbai and one case each in Palghar, Thane and Sindhudurg districts.

Maharashtra reports 6,270 COVID-19 cases
Maharashtra on Monday reported 6,270 new coronavirus cases, a four-month low daily count, taking its COVID-19 tally to 59,79,051, while 94 deaths pushed the toll to 1,18,313, the state health department said. The infection count was the lowest since February 23 when 6218 cases were reported. Maharashtra had recorded 6,971 cases on February 21. As many as 13,758 patients were discharged during the day, taking the number of recovered cases to 57,33,215, a statement from the health department said. There are now 1,24,398 active cases in the state.
