Bomb scare outside Antilia

Mumbai Police went into a tizzy after an SUV filled with suspected explosives was detected outside Antilia, the lavish multi-storied home of billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani, on Thursday evening. Tram at Bhatia Baug

Mumbra accident

Branch falls on auto

A heavy tree branch fell on an auto rickshaw in Thane on Thursday morning near the demolished post office building in Damani Estate. The auto driver was injured in the mishap and his vehicle was severly damaged. COVID-ready taxi

The United Way Mumbai on Thursday began phase 2 of Project COVID Ready Taxi in collaboration with Andheri RTO and Mumbai Taximen's Union. “Based on the success of the pilot project implemented at Wadala RTO (we supported 200 cabbies during the pilot), in the second phase we will be covering 500 plus kaali-peelis in the city,” said Ajay Govale from UWM.

'Golden rules of road safety'

Govale added that under the programme, the taxi drivers will also be made aware of road safety rules and a leaflet on 'Golden rules of Road Safety' will be given to them. "Under this project we will sanitise these cabs, install isolation screen in the taxi and all the drivers will attend a 1-1.5 hour long session on Road Safety and COVID readiness for drivers,” he said. All drivers will also be given a COVID readiness kit comprising of reusable 6 layer masks, disinfectant spray and paper soap among other things.
