Mumbai: The J J Marg police arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly threatening his 70-year-old mother and demanding Rs 23 lakh. The accused had been
threatening his mother
for money since he had spent a huge sum to pay legal fees while trying to secure anticipatory bail in an attempted murder case.
Shaheen Khan, a resident of Mirza Ali Road, lodged a complaint against her son,
Amjad Khan (45) and his son-in-law Shams Sayyed (24), among others. She alleged that Amjad also insulted her two daughters-in-law who stay with her and were present in the house.
Soon after registering an FIR, a team led by senior inspector Subash Borate and inspector Yaqub Mulla arrested Amjad and Sayyed. tnn
