MUMBAI: The partly decomposed body of a 29-year-old woman was found in her rented room in Mumbai's Nalasopara (east) on Friday.
Her live-in-partner, who is the prime suspect, is absconding.
The matter came to light when residents of Datta Niwas chawl in Nalasopara (east) complained of foul smell from a room.
They informed the Tulinj police who broke open the door and found the body.
The victim was identified as Sheetal Sawant who had come to stay in the house in February with a male friend.
Tulinj police said the neck of the victim was slashed and there were massive cut injuries on the legs.
The victim was identified based on the Aadhaar card found in the house.
Police said they are in talks with the owners of the room to know more about the couple.
