MHT-CET second attempt from May 9; 4.92 lakh to appear
Mumbai: The state Common Entrance Test (CET) cell has announced the schedule for the second attempt of the MHT-CET for the 2026–27 academic year, with exams set to be held from May 9 to May 21. A total of 4.9 lakh candidates across Maharashtra have registered for this additional attempt, which has been introduced from this year. The CET is conducted for admission to professional courses, including MBA/MMS, engineering, pharmacy and agriculture under the PCM and PCB streams. According to the schedule, the MBA/MMS test will be held on May 9, the PCB group on May 10 and 11, and the PCM group from May 12 to May 21, excluding May 16 and 17.The first round of CET examinations concluded recently, recording a turnout of 92.99%. Of the 8,96,236 candidates who registered, 8,33,482 appeared, while 62,754 remained absent. The decision to offer two attempts mirrors the national pattern seen in entrance tests such as the Joint Entrance Examination (Main), allowing students an opportunity to improve their scores. While appearing for at least one attempt remains mandatory, the second attempt is optional. For candidates who opt to take both, the higher percentile score will be considered for admission, officials said.
