Maratha quota protest: Companies allow WFH in south Mumbai; TCS, Reliance, SBI, BSE offices stay shut
MUMBAI: Tata Consultancy Services's HQ on Raveline Street in Fort remained closed for the second working day due to the Maratha protests causing traffic congestion and inconvenience for office-goers in south Mumbai.
The HQ was closed on Friday and Monday, and will also be shut on Tuesday. TCSers have been instructed to work from home (WFH) or from the IT giant's other offices in the city.
Other companies with offices in south Mumbai have also issued traffic advisories to their employees, allowing them to WFH with consultation from their respective managers or function directors, or from their alternative branches in the city.
About 40% of commercial activity has been impacted by the Maratha protests. Events, including one hosted by a foreign state agency, were relocated from Taj Colaba to the Oberoi in Nariman Point over the weekend after protesters entered the Tata Group-managed hotel.
Despite the disruptions, various bank branches in south Mumbai were open for business on Monday.
"Routes leading to CSMT and surrounding areas are still experiencing closures or heavy diversions. Vehicle movement on the approach road to the office remains restricted," read a travel advisory issued by a large company to its employees on Monday evening.
