Thane: A 36-year-old Diva resident on his way to attend the funeral of a relative in Dadar died after falling off a packed moving train minutes after boarding it at Kopar station in Dombivli on Thursday, said Thane GRP.
Tejas Pawar and a relative first tried to board a train at Diva station, but since all Mumbai-bound trains were heavily crowded, they decided to go in the opposite direction and boarded one at Kopar. While his relative managed to get inside, Pawar is suspected to have been on the footboard. He likely lost his grip and fell while the train was approaching Diva, said Archana Dusane, senior inspector, Thane GRP. Pawar was rushed to hospital, where he died. His relative, unaware of the tragedy, continued her journey till Dadar.
