MUMBAI: An elderly Nalasopara man and his wife, bot of whom had recovered from Covid-19 two months ago were found hanging in their home on Tuesday. No suicide note was found, but the childless couple was said to be upset after their pet dog passed away.

The deaths came to light when residents of the building in Ganesh Nagar, Nalasopara (east), complained about foul smell from a flat.

The police broke into the flat and found the couple, Vijay Kadam (60) and Jayshree (55), hanging. The bodies were sent for an autopsy.

The police said that the couple might have ended their lives on Monday.

Neighbours told the police that the couple had tested positive in April. They were under home quarantine. Residents of the building had helped the couple with groceries during their home quarantine period.
