Maharashtra signs 3 MoUs to boost skill development
Mumbai: The Maharashtra government on Thursday signed three MoUs with South Korean institutions to strengthen skill development and vocational training in the state. The agreements were signed in the presence of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis at the Sahyadri state guesthouse in Mumbai.
The Directorate of Vocational Education and Training signed an agreement with Korea Polytechnics to set up advanced training centres in Maharashtra based on South Korea’s “Learning Factory” model. These centres will focus on modern technology, hands-on training and industry-ready skills.
The project will be supported by Ecopo, along with Korean technical institutions such as KT, KITEC and KATECH.
According to the government, a strategy manual for the centres will be prepared between May and September 2026. The centres are expected to become fully operational between March 2027 and June 2028.
Students will receive training through advanced machinery, industry-focused courses and expert trainers to improve employment opportunities and technical skills, said the press release.
