Maharashtra horror: Newly married woman found murdered at parental home in Kalyan, search on for her father
Kalyan: A newly married woman, Gayatri Shinde (25) was found murdered in her parental residence in Kalyan’s Parekarwadi area on Monday evening.
Bazarpeth police have launched a search for her father Vinod Vasaikar as the building’s CCTV footage allegedly showed him leaving for work in the morning, returning home shortly afterwards, and later leaving again in a hurried manner. Since the incident, Vasaikar has been missing, intensifying police suspicion against him.
Police said that Gayatri was attacked with a sharp weapon as there were multiple grievous injuries on the body.
Bazarpeth police senior inspector Surajsingh Gaur told TOI that preliminary investigations show that Gayatri had married her boyfriend Akshay Shinde in November last year against the wishes of her father Vinod Vasaikar. “The father was upset
with the marriage and there were frequent arguments between him and Gayatri over this issue. At present, this appears to be the prime reason behind the suspicion, though the truth will come out only after he is apprehended and questioned,” Gaur added.
Police said Gayatri had come to stay with her parents a few days ago. On Monday evening, when her mother returned home from work, she found her lying on the floor in a pool of blood. Shocked, she immediately alerted Bazarpeth police.
A team from Bazarpeth police station rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. The body was later sent for post-mortem examination, while forensic experts inspected the crime scene and collected evidence.
