MUMBAI: Chief whip of BJP
Raj Purohit has demanded a stay on plastic ban till term of the state government comes to an end.
Speaking to journalists at Mantralaya, Raj Purohit informed that he led a delegation of traders from his
Colaba
assembly constituency and demanded a stay plastic ban till December 2019.
The tenure of the Fadnavis government will come to an end in 2019. Purohit said that the traders are being treated as criminals after the ban. He said that the ban was implemented in a haste and not enough time was given to the citizens.
"The huge fine of Rs 5000 and the provision of imprisonment will create an anti-government sentiment among the trading community and so the ban should be implemented after the elections," said Purohit.
