MUMBAI: The Mumbai cyber cell's special investigation team has detained actor Sahil Khan into custody from Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, in relation to the Mahadev betting app case, according to an official statement released on Sunday.
The arrest was made on Saturday following the Bombay High Court's denial of Khan's pre-arrest bail application. Prior to his arrest, the SIT had questioned the actor regarding the case.
The SIT is currently investigating alleged illegal transactions amounting to approximately Rs 15,000 crore, as stated in the police's first information report (FIR). These transactions are believed to have taken place between certain financial and real estate companies in the state and the promoters of the Mahadev betting app, which has been at the center of controversy.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the police are examining the bank accounts, mobile phones, laptops, and all technical equipment of Khan and 31 other individuals who are under scrutiny.
The official stated that one person has been arrested in connection with the case so far, and the investigation is still in progress.
Sahil Khan, who has appeared in films such as "Style" and "Excuse Me", has transitioned into a career as a fitness expert in recent years.
